For the first time since the coup d'etat,
this march of the million
took place when communications were re-established and bridges were not blocked by the army. Officially, this demonstration was held to commemorate the 42 protesters killed by the police since the coup. But it was also for many the occasion to refuse the agreement signed by the Prime Minister.
At the head of the procession, the portraits of the 42 martyrs of the revolt against the coup.
Abderahman will continue to demonstrate until the generals are tried for these crimes.
“
We want to be ruled by civilians.
We have nothing against the return of Abdallah Hamdok but we do not want a power led by the military.
The deal doesn't change much.
The generals are still there and Burhan's decisions still in effect.
The agreement did not stop the repression, violence and arrests
”.

For others, like Suhanda, the deal
signed by the Prime Minister
is a stab in the back. “
Hamdok came back at the cost of the blood which did not stop flowing. He signed this agreement and an hour later we lost a martyr in Omdurman. For the moment, this agreement is not working. One day, we sign an agreement with the military. The next day, when they wake up, they massacre a peaceful sit-in. Another day, we sign an agreement with them, they carry out a coup and kill 42 people. We wake up another time and Darfur is on fire. We don't trust
”.
“The
whole country is with Darfur,
” we could hear in the processions, as 14 villages were razed by militias killing at least 100 people and injuring hundreds more.
