November 25, 2021 The president of the Czech Republic, 77-year-old Milos Zeman, was hospitalized after being found positive for covid-19, just hours after being discharged after nearly two months of treatment at the Central Military Hospital in Prague.

Zeman is expected to appoint Petr Fiala, leader of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), as premier tomorrow.

Zeman was admitted to intensive care on October 10, the day after the elections, for a chronic problem whose nature has not been specified.

His stay in hospital had delayed the assignment of the assignment to Fiala, which took place only in early November.

Today Zeman was taken back by ambulance to Lany Castle, where he was scheduled to meet in person with Fiala tomorrow, so far only heard online.

The new hospitalization for covid, made known by various media, has not been denied or confirmed for now by the presidential spokesman Jiri Ovcacek.

"The president's program is suspended for the time of anti Covid treatments," spokesman Jiri Ovcacek specified in a statement, adding that Zeman will not designate the new prime minister on Friday as initially planned.

Zeman has several health problems and has been hospitalized several times.

He recently received the third dose of the vaccine.
