France, its first economic partner, is facing a fifth wave of Covid, while the Cherifian kingdom, on the contrary, has seen the epidemiological situation improve very markedly, which allowed the Moroccan authorities to lift the nighttime curfew that had lasted for months.

For several weeks, Morocco had strengthened its controls for travelers from Europe, Algeria and Tunisia: health pass and mandatory negative PCR test, control by thermal cameras and electronic thermometer.

They risked being returned to their country of origin if they tested positive.

Last month, Moroccan authorities also suspended flights to and from Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Russia, due to the evolving health situation in these countries.

Air France says it has strengthened its flight program on Friday and canceled all departures to Morocco at least until next Tuesday.
