Cairo -

Egyptian media reported on Tuesday that the Israeli spy of Egyptian origin, Inshirah Moussa, died at the age of 87 in Tel Aviv, Israel, and was buried according to the Jewish faith.

According to the Cairo 24 website, Inshirah passed away after a long struggle with depression, and the site also published pictures of the spy in her last moments, and a video of her burial.

Who is?

Inshirah Moussa was one of the most famous spies who worked with Israel after the setback of June 1967, until the Egyptian intelligence succeeded in arresting her, her husband Ibrahim Shaheen and her three children after the October 1973 war.

Moussa was born in 1937 in the Minya Governorate in southern Egypt, and married Ibrahim Shaheen, who works as an employee in the Labor Directorate in Arish, who was accused of bribery and imprisoned for several months, only to be released from prison unemployed.

After the setback of June 1967 that occurred during the era of former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser and resulted in Israel’s occupation of the entire Sinai, Ibrahim went to the office of the Israeli military governor asking for food, to be given by the Israeli officer a sack of flour, then offering him to work with Israel for 70 dollars a month .

Ibrahim presented the matter to his wife Anshrah, and she immediately agreed “as long as they pay,” as the government newspaper Al-Ahram published. After that, the Israeli intelligence service “Mossad” trained him to send secret intelligence messages from the heart of Cairo to Tel Aviv, and he mastered the distinction between various weapons and military equipment.

Ibrahim traveled with his family to Cairo, and the couple also enlisted their three young sons, as they cooperated with them in befriending the officers’ sons to find out the working hours of their fathers, their work locations, and the Egyptian military preparations on the front, according to Al-Ahram newspaper.

Targeting Abdel Moneim Riad

The Inshirah Musa network caused the targeting of Lieutenant-General Abdel Moneim Riyad, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Army, during the war of attrition with Israel. The fire broke out on his arrival site, causing his injury and death, according to what was reported by Egyptian newspapers.

Moussa and her husband also traveled to Israel several times, and obtained a spy device to send the codes to the Mossad after the October 1973 war in which Egypt won during the era of its former president, Muhammad Anwar Sadat, over Israel, so that the couple could quickly send information to Tel Aviv.

arrest and trial

The Egyptian intelligence was able to monitor the device’s vibrations, and after tracking the houses from which the waves originated, the Egyptian intelligence managed to arrest Ibrahim on August 5, 1974, along with the transmitter and ciphers, at a time when Inshirah was on a trip to Italy to meet with Mossad men.

On August 24, 1974, Moussa returned to Egypt, and upon her arrival at her home, she was surprised by Egyptian intelligence officers arresting her, to make detailed confessions before the investigation authorities.

On the first anniversary of the October War, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram published the news of the arrest of Inshirah and her family under the title “The most dangerous spy case for Israel was revealed.” Al-Ahram stated that the spy, his wife and three children formed one spy network, and this news coincided with the meeting of US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger with His Egyptian counterpart Ismail Fahmy to discuss the next stage of peace negotiations between Egypt and Israel, and the Egyptians are anticipating the military parade that Egypt is witnessing for the first time since the setback to celebrate the October victory.

Inshirah Musa and her family were tried on charges of high treason and spying for Israel, and in November 1974 the court decided to execute her and her husband Ibrahim, and her eldest son Nabil was sentenced to hard labor, while her two sons, Muhammad and Adel, were placed in a juvenile care home.

While the sentence was carried out in Ibrahim by hanging, Israel intervened to postpone the execution of the sentence in the execution of Inshirah, and she spent 3 years in prison until President Anwar Sadat “pardoned her to support her children” in January 1977, and she was officially handed over to Israel “in exchange for privileges that were not granted.” Announcing it or revealing its details so far," according to Al-Ahram newspaper.

According to the international counter-terrorism expert, Colonel Hatem Saber, in televised statements in March 2018, Inshrah wanted to return to Egypt and die in the land of Egypt, and she was cleaning toilets in Tel Aviv, and one of her sons tried to return to Egypt, but was prevented.
