While Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S) and Karin Tegmark Wisell, Director General of the Swedish Public Health Agency, stated this morning that a third dose is to be recommended, Anders Tegnell denies that a rumored fourth wave will hit the country too hard.

- Sure, there will be an increasing pressure on intensive care again, but not at the levels we have seen before.

Vaccinate more

There is already an increased spread of infection in Europe, including Sweden.

Tegnell explains that the vaccines we have are "fantastically good" at protecting against serious illness - with hospital care as a result - but not as effective at stopping the spread of infection.

But so that there will not be an overload on intensive care, Tegnell stands by what has been said before:

- The most important measure is to vaccinate.

Make sure that as many as possible receive at least two, but preferably three doses, especially among the elderly and those with other diseases.
