this Wednesday, given the case law, the Constitutional Council authorized Marseille senator Jean-Noël Guérini to retain his mandate, despite his conviction on May 28 by the Marseille Criminal Court to three years in prison including 18 months suspended, 30,000 euros fine and five years of ineligibility for illegal taking of interest.

The Constitutional Council was seized last September by the Keeper of the Seals, in the context of a request for the revocation of the former baron of the Marseille left.

This Monday will open the appeal trial of Jean-Noël Guérini, alongside his brother Alexandre.

Jean-Noël Guérini, chairman of the Bouches-du-Rhône general council from 1998 to 2015, was accused of having preempted a piece of land under the pretext of saving a rare plant, then of having sold it to a community. of agglomeration, and this in order to favor his brother Alexandre, entrepreneur, who needed it for the extension of a landfill.
