Britain and Qatar launched the 11th Squadron for joint training between the British Air Force and the Qatari Emiri Air Force at Liming Base of the British Air Force.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khalid Al-Attiyah said in a speech at the base that the squadron will enhance the strategic partnership linking his country with Britain, as well as the tactical cooperation between the two countries.

He added that this would also lead to closer cooperation and rapprochement in regional peacekeeping efforts in the region.

Wallace said that the launch of the British-Qatari squadron is an important moment for the strategic partnership between the two countries (Al-Jazeera).

The importance of Qatar

For his part, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace considered the launch of the British-Qatari squadron an important moment for the long-term strategic partnership that links Qatar and Britain.

He pointed out that this joint squadron is the first for Britain since World War II.

The British minister stressed that this reflects the importance of Qatar and the Gulf for his country.
