• A new outdoor attraction was launched in 2020 at Futuroscope and residents quickly complained about the cries pulled from visitors by these roller coasters.

  • The forced closure during the health crisis was an opportunity to build a noise barrier but it is not sufficiently effective according to the residents.

  • A dialogue is underway with management to try to find a solution to reduce noise pollution.

The Futuroscope park promised “thrills” with its new “Objectif Mars” attraction and the problem is that it keeps all its promises… The roller coasters, the park's first attraction outside the park, make visitors cry out strident, heard even in the gardens of residents who can no longer take it.

During the seven months of forced closure of Futuroscope in 2020 due to the health crisis, he initiated the construction of a noise barrier for an amount of 800,000 euros.

But since its reopening on June 9, the cries have started again, with no noticeable difference for the vast majority of residents.

"It's unlivable"

According to the studies carried out upstream, the merry-go-round was nevertheless in conformity with the legislation in force, but the residents hear it differently. "It's not in terms of decibels but every three minutes it screams in our gardens and it's from 9 am to 10:30 pm from March to September, it never stops, it's unlivable", testifies Elsa, a local woman who lives about a kilometer from the park and whose house is not behind the noise barrier.

"The Futuroscope teams are in permanent contact with the residents concerned and are continuing discussions with the aim of always improving the consideration of nuisances", explains the park's communication department at

20 Minutes,

without agreeing to comment further. “We expect the park but also its shareholders: the Compagnie des Alpes, the Caisse des Dépôts and the Department, because I suppose that the park alone cannot do anything,” explains Elsa. We also expect our elected officials ”,

The residents hope that the dialogue will lead to a solution to cover the attraction or at least contain the noise in one way or another.

"We have all been residents for over twenty-five years and we have never had a problem with the park until then", insists Elsa.

About fifty households would be affected by the nuisances and intend to raise their voices to be heard.
