Chun Doo-hwan, born in Hapcheon, Gyeongnam in 1931, was from the 11th grade.

Within Yuksa, he and former President Roh Tae-woo, who died last month, formed Hanahoe, a private organization within the military.

After the death of former President Park Chung-hee on October 26, Jeon, who was appointed as the security commander in 1979, was the head of the Joint Investigation Headquarters and investigated the sniper of Park Chung-hee.

After that, Jeon, who took control of the military by causing a military coup d'état with former President Roh, led the suppression of the 5.18 Gwangju Democratization Movement while concurrently serving as the head of the Central Intelligence Agency.

On May 27, 1980, Mr. Jeon, who organized the National Security Council and served as the permanent chairman, was inaugurated as the 11th president through a presidential election system in September of the same year.

Jeon, who was elected as the 12th president through an indirect election the following year, faced the uprising in June 1987, and resigned from the presidency after Roh Tae-woo was elected in the direct presidential election held after the June 29 Declaration.

In 1996, when the Kim Young-sam government began to 'correct history', Jeon was arrested and indicted on charges of rebellion.

At that time, when the prosecution notified the summons, Jeon made a so-called 'alley statement' and did not respond to the summons.

[Chun Doo-hwan / In front of Yeonhui-dong's house in 1995: I do not intend to cooperate with the prosecution's summons request or any other measures as it is based on political necessity.]

In April 1997, life imprisonment and fines He was finally sentenced to 220.5 billion won, and was pardoned in December of the same year.

When the prosecution investigation began in 2013 to recover the fine, the Jeon family announced their plan to pay the fine, but the fine has not yet been paid in full.

Jeon appeared in court again in March of last year as a defendant.

In 2017, in his memoir, the late Father Jovio, who said he witnessed a helicopter shooting during the May 18 Democratization Movement, was put on trial for defamation of a lion who accused him of being an "unscrupulous liar."

[Chun Doo-hwan: (Do you deny the firing order?) Why is this?]

Chun Doo-hwan was sentenced to 8 months in prison last November and 2 years of probation.

Jeon, who appealed against the verdict of the first trial, stood in court in Gwangju in August, but did not answer a reporter's question about whether he was willing to apologize to the citizens of Gwangju.
