The company Dana manufactures, among other things, vehicle components and already owns the company Nordiska kardan in Åmål.

And this is where it has now been decided to build a completely new factory that will manufacture electric motors for larger vehicles, in the first stage it is about motors for buses and trucks but in the future it can also be about motors for construction vehicles.

The factory will be completed next year and employ around 80 people and it is not excluded to expand capacity, there is land to build further.

- We do not comment on who ordered our engines, but it is a huge interest, says factory manager Robert Boffey.

Minister of Foreign Trade

In their presentation on Tuesday, they pointed to the availability of green energy but also the support from authorities and the municipality as important factors why they chose åmål.

Foreign Minister Anna Hallberg (S) was also present and stated that the investment is just in time, with an emphasis on sustainability and mobility.

- It is extra gratifying when future investments are made in sparsely populated municipalities because it creates hope for the future and moving in, she tells SVT.
