"It is clear that we will focus all our preparation and our efforts in thinking of running the Tour de France this year," the winner of the 2019 edition, 24, told Mundo Ciclistico.

In 2020, Bernal was forced to retire during the Tour due to back pain.

In 2021, the leader of the Ineos team focused on the Giro d'Italia, which he won for the first time.

"It is time to get back on the path of 2019, from which we have deviated a little," continued the only South American winner of the Tour.
