Often eat peanuts

  A Japanese study published not long ago showed that eating peanuts helps prevent stroke and heart disease.

  Recently, a study suggested that for healthy young people, regular eating of peanuts or peanut butter can also improve memory and relieve stress.

  The study also found that this effect of peanuts may be related to the intake of peanut polyphenols and the increased levels of short-chain fatty acids and ultra-long-chain saturated fatty acids in the feces.

  The study included 63 healthy young people aged 18 to 33, divided into three groups. Among them, 21 people ate 25g of roasted peanuts per day (roasted peanut group), 23 people ate 32g of peanut butter per day (peanut butter group), and the remaining 19 people ate every day 32g of a control sauce made of peanut oil without polyphenols and fiber (control group), intervention for 6 months.

  The results showed that compared with the control group, the anxiety scores of the subjects in the roasted peanut group were significantly reduced.

Compared with baseline, participants in the roasted peanut group and the peanut butter group had significantly improved immediate memory and lower anxiety and depression scores.

  Further analysis showed that the memory and stress response of subjects in the roasted peanut group and peanut butter group were significantly related to the intake of peanut polyphenols, short-chain fatty acids in feces, and ultra-long-chain saturated fatty acids in plasma and feces.
