Almost on the day two years ago, the municipal council in Västervik decided to allow the company Statkraft Vind AB to build 26 wind turbines in Tribbhult.

But on Monday, the issue was raised again in the municipal council.

And this time it was a resounding no to the wind farm.

- We never had a good discussion with the affected municipal residents then.

And now it has become a fairly large and powerful opinion, says municipal councilor Dan Nilsson (S).

Listened to public opinion

And after listening to this opinion, the municipal council got the council to tear up the old permit, and instead go in with the municipal veto.

With the clear votes 41-7, his proposal won.

But the municipal council agrees that it can be interpreted as being unclear on the part of the municipality, when you first say yes and then no.

- It can create uncertainty, no doubt about it.

I'm sorry, it's very unfortunate, says Dan Nilsson (S).

No financial compensation

The process for the wind turbines in Tribbhult has been going on for many years.

And the developer Statkraft has already invested around SEK 9 million in the project.

Expenses that the municipality does not intend to compensate.

- No, it is not something we have taken height for in any way, says Dan Nilsson (S).
