“Amendments to the Belarusian constitution will be submitted to a referendum at the end of February.

Amendments to the constitution, subject to approval, must be made public, and the impartial Venice Commission should be involved in consultations, ”the Estonian Foreign Ministry’s press service quoted TASS as saying.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with a working group on finalizing the draft Constitution of the republic, suggested conducting a large-scale sociological study on constitutional reform.

A referendum on the adoption of amendments to the basic law of the country will be held in February 2022.

The Venice Commission is an advisory body on constitutional law that was established under the Council of Europe in 1990.
