Egypt elected as a full member of the Russian Institute for Nuclear Research

The Russian Joint Institute for Nuclear Research announced today, Monday, the election of Egypt as a full member of the institute located in Dubna, near Moscow.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the Member States of the Institute, which was held today, Monday in Bulgaria, according to the Russian Sputnik agency.

"This is a historic event," said Institute director Grigory Trubnikov.

Trubnikov added, "Egypt is a country with enormous technological and intellectual potential, which not only develops applied research, but highly values ​​and supports basic sciences. Today's event opens new horizons for the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and its international scientific program."

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was established on the basis of an agreement signed by the 11 founding countries on March 26, 1956, and registered by the United Nations on February 1, 1957.

Egypt became the 19th member of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
