“

The current restrictions are not enough.

The current situation is highly dramatic and exceeds anything we have known since the start of the pandemic.

»Reported by the German press, the words of Angela Merkel during a meeting of the leading authorities of the Christian Democratic party this Monday morning are alarmist.

Last Thursday, a new law and a meeting between the Chancellor and the regions led to stricter measures, to the detriment in particular of the unvaccinated, excluded from access to various places.

Angela Merkel had the same day considered that she considered this device insufficient, recalls our correspondent in Berlin,

National vaccine obligation under discussion

At a press conference on Monday, Health Minister Jens Spahn used a shocking phrase to sum up the current situation and his concerns for the weeks to come: “

It is likely that at the end of this winter , almost everyone will be either vaccinated or cured or dead.

This is very likely with the Delta variant and that is why we are advocating for vaccination.

 "

Germany, especially the southern and eastern regions, has been hit hard by a new wave of contaminations that experts and politicians attribute in particular to a

vaccination rate (68%) among the lowest

in Western Europe. The country has recorded in recent days unmatched contamination figures since the start of the pandemic, exceeding 65,000 last week in 24 hours. On Monday the seven-day incidence rate was 386.5, a record high. The situation is becoming very tense in the hospitals where the first transfers of patients took place.

Saxony and Bavaria have decided on partial lockdowns for the unvaccinated.

Will they expand?

A vaccine obligation for nursing staff, long taboo, must come into force.

A debate is underway on its extension to the entire population.

Seven out of ten Germans are in favor, according to a poll.
