The military coalition in Yemen said this morning, Monday, that it was taking measures against Houthi boats threatening navigation in the southern Red Sea, hours after it announced the destruction of a march targeting the Saudi airport of Najran.
Saudi official media reported that the Saudi-led coalition forces announced that they had detected indications of an imminent danger threatening global navigation and trade in the southern Red Sea.
The reports added that the coalition monitored the movements and hostile activity of the Yemeni Houthi forces using booby-trapped boats.
The coalition said it was taking measures to neutralize the maritime threat and ensure freedom of navigation. The reports gave no further details.
This development comes amid continuing battles on several fronts in Yemen, and hours after the coalition announced the destruction of a drone launched by the Houthi group on Sunday towards Najran Airport, in the south of the Kingdom.
This came in a statement issued by the coalition, which was reported by the Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel, on its Twitter account.
The statement said that the Saudi defenses destroyed a drone that tried to target Najran airport.
He pointed out that the plane's shrapnel was scattered over the Al-Araysah residential neighborhood (Najran), without any civilian casualties.
The statement considered that "Al-Houthi's violations offend the policy of restraint and efforts for a political solution in Yemen."
There was no immediate comment from the Houthis on what the coalition reported.

The Saudi-led military coalition announced on Saturday the implementation of a qualitative operation that destroyed 13 Houthi military targets.
For its part, the Houthi group bombed Saudi sites using 14 drones.
The Houthis used to launch ballistic missiles and booby-trapped drones at Saudi regions, in return for repeated declarations by the coalition to thwart these attacks, despite Arab and international calls to abide by the ceasefire.
Yemen has been witnessing for nearly 7 years a continuous war between the pro-government forces backed by an Arab military alliance led by the neighboring Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled governorates, including the capital, Sanaa, since September 2014.
