21 November 2021 Record numbers for the 2021 Architecture Biennale, with over 300 thousand visitors, surpassing the number of the 2018 edition in the pre-Covid era. In fact, the 17th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice entitled "How will we live together?" with 298,600 tickets sold, in addition to the 6,000 admissions during the spring pre-opening.

Despite the particular year, which imposed so many limitations on the national and international school and university system, the presence of young people under 26 represents 32% of total visitors. 18,614 visitors took part in guided tours (+ 9% compared to 2018), of which 7,125 took part in fixed departure visits (+ 214% compared to 2018).

"Most of the visitors are Italian - among them many are Venetians or from neighboring territories - and the number of visitors who have been able to reach Venice by land from the countries closest to Italy is consistent. Many were families, girls and young people, professionals of all ages who came to the exhibition having planned a visit to Venice. A real new heritage of women and men that we must convince to keep the appointment with the Venice Biennale and perhaps extend it to other events and festivals (Arte , Cinema, Dance, Theater and Music) ".

This was stated by the president of the Biennale, Roberto Cicutto, commenting on the success of this edition.

And then: "These people have fully grasped a reality: that is, that culture has become more than ever a non-accessory element for the quality of life of all, essential to understand with more awareness what has happened to the whole world in the last two years ( and not only) But at the same time I underline once again the qualities of the realization that accompanied the exhibition, desired and designed by Hashim Sarkis before Covid, which made it even more relevant and necessary. Finally, I thank all the participating countries , who have built their participation in this historic Architecture Biennale 2021 with tenacity ".

The curator of the 2021 Architecture Biennale, Hashim Sarkis, for his part declared: "The 17th International Architecture Exhibition has just ended. But it is still too early to assess its impact, both in terms of architecture and on the trajectory they will take. future ideas and practices. At least until the next Biennale! Words and images have their own way of traveling and often spread even before they can be assigned a value or meaning. Immediately they seduce us, stimulate passions in us , and ultimately they are hooked to a meaning, to a certain spirit of the time, becoming the most effective illustrations. Our nascent age is looking for images, and these are looking for their spirit. This is why we hope that the projects presented at the 2021 Architecture Biennale will be able to generate a new imaginary, but let's also take the time to analyze them, before they can reveal something more about us ".
