A 49-year-old trucker died on Saturday evening, after being struck by a vehicle on the A 63 motorway, towards Cestas (Gironde).

According to our information, this driver from Belarus had parked his truck at the Cestas rest area, near a service station, in the direction Bordeaux-Bayonne.

 At around 7:25 p.m., for an as yet undetermined reason, he wanted to cross the highway on foot.

It was then that he was struck by a car traveling in the direction Bayonne-Bordeaux, indicates the Aquitaine motorway CRS at

20 minutes

.

The 40-year-old quickly succumbed to his injuries.

Another car reportedly avoided his body, but he was not struck by other vehicles.

A detour was put in place in the evening to cut off traffic on the A 63 going to Bordeaux.
