Poland today is "on the front line", confronting the threats that come from Russia and Belarus, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

According to him, the current migration crisis is in fact nothing more than a manifestation of a "hybrid war".

“From a distance, these events may look like a normal migration crisis.

But this is not him.

This is a political crisis created for a specific purpose.

The task is to destabilize the situation in Europe for the first time since the end of the Cold War 30 years ago, ”said Morawiecki.

At the same time, according to the Polish prime minister, pressure from presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko is allegedly already being felt in full force in Europe.

As an example, he cited the increase in energy prices and the reduction in gas supplies, blaming Moscow for this.

“This is just the beginning ... I assure you: Poland will not succumb to blackmail and will do everything to prevent the evil that threatens Europe,” Morawiecki stressed, adding that Warsaw has always been “in the forefront” when it comes to confronting various challenges.

“This was the solidarity of Poland with other countries of the free world, long before the formation of the European Union and NATO.”

In this regard, he called on other EU states to support Poland in its struggle and expressed gratitude to the European Commission, Great Britain and the United States for solidarity with Warsaw.

Forming a coalition

In the issue of confrontation between Moscow and Minsk, Moravetsky decided to seek support, first of all, from his neighbors - on Sunday, November 21, he went on a tour of the Baltic countries.

The Polish prime minister intends to meet with his colleagues to discuss joint counteraction against the "threat from the East."

He has already held talks with the head of the Estonian government Kaya Kallas and the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers Ingrida Simonyte.

As a result, Morawiecki announced his readiness to close the Polish-Belarusian border, trade and transit crossings, as well as discuss new sanctions against Minsk.

In addition, according to the press secretary of the Polish government Piotr Müller, later Morawiecki has planned visits to other European countries, where the current agenda will also be discussed.

“There will be visits to the rest of the EU and Europe to present the current geopolitical situation and take preventive measures in the face of potential actions that may come from the eastern side, so that we, as the European Union and Europe, as the Euro-Atlantic Union, can prepare for the potential threat from the East, ”said a spokesman during a November 20 briefing.

Among other things, Mueller accused Moscow of cyberattacks and manipulation of gas prices.

“From the east, we see both widespread cyber actions, cyberattacks, and actions related to gas price manipulation and gas supply manipulation in order to influence the energy crisis, gas prices and energy prices throughout Europe,” he said.

The Russian side has repeatedly rejected such claims and expressed its readiness to increase, if necessary, gas supplies to the EU.

Thus, Vladimir Putin focused on the fact that Moscow is not interested in "the endless rise in prices for energy resources, including gas."

Moreover, he noted, the current situation on the European energy market is the work of European politicians themselves.

“This is a man-made result of the economic policy of the European Commission.

Russia has nothing to do with it, ”the Russian leader emphasized at a meeting of the Valdai International Club.

At the same time, the EU itself admits that Moscow is not involved in manipulating European energy prices.

In particular, this was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron in an October interview with the Financial Times.

The same was said in the United States.

“Let's be clear: Russia did not create a gas crisis in Europe,” said Amos Hoxtin, senior adviser to the State Department for energy security, speaking October 29 at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

"Attack" by migrants

But if there is still a constructive dialogue on the gas topic between the EU and Russia, then with regard to refugees on their eastern borders, Western countries have taken an uncompromising position, unfoundedly accusing Moscow and Minsk of creating a migration crisis, analysts say.

And this position is actively supported by the United States, which is assisted by the very same Poland.

In particular, Mateusz Morawiecki said that the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border could be a distraction by Russia in its plans to "attack" Ukraine.

“We cannot rule out anything.

We do not know what else they are planning, ”Moravetsky said in an interview with the Bild newspaper on 18 November.

Russia has repeatedly pointed out the groundlessness of such accusations and denied any involvement in the situation.

Moreover, as Vladimir Putin said, the reasons for the current influx of migrants to the European borders should be sought in the policies of the Western countries themselves.

“They are of a political, economic and military nature.

Military, because everyone took part, say, in operations in Iraq ... and fought in Afghanistan for 20 years.

And economic (reasons. -

) - very high social benefits in Europe for migrants, "the president said.

According to Putin, those who continue to blame Moscow for everything should tackle their own internal problems, and not shift them from a sore head to a healthy one.

The image of the "savior"

Experts note that this is not the first time Poland has tried on the image of a “common European savior”.

The tradition of claiming credit for "containing" Russia is deeply rooted in history, recalled Oleg Nemensky, a leading researcher at the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies.

Therefore, Warsaw is now with a vengeance revolves around the successfully turned up topic of migrants in order to strengthen its authority before Brussels.

“If you look at Polish history, the idea that Poland is located at the edge of Western civilization, is a bulwark of Europe and allegedly constantly saves the West from the“ terrible ”East, is so firmly rooted in the Polish consciousness that now Warsaw constantly needs new pretexts for implementation. this idea, "Nemensky said in a comment to RT.

Moreover, in view of the recent disagreements with Brussels over the supremacy of the common European legal system, Warsaw needs more reasons than ever to restore its reputation among the EU countries that criticized its position.

“Poland really lacks evidence of aggression against it and all of Europe from the East.

And she tries to find these confirmations in every little detail in order to solve her political problems in relations with European partners, ”the expert added.

In turn, Vladimir Olenchenko, senior researcher at the Center for European Studies at the IMEMO RAS, noted that the Polish authorities are trying to rehabilitate themselves in the eyes of Brussels after they entered into a confrontation with Brussels, trying to approve the policy of the supremacy of national law over European law.

“Therefore, the Polish authorities are now looking for pretexts to show Brussels what a significant role they play in the security of the European Union, and to prevent pressure from it.

For this, the image of a "European savior" is just right, "the interlocutor of RT explained.

In addition, Poland is trying to curry favor with the United States by supporting the agenda they are promoting about the growing "Russian threat" so that they continue to consider them strategic partners and support them with various projects, experts say.

“For example, Warsaw and Washington had plans to turn Poland into a hub for the distribution of American LNG to EU countries.

Accordingly, Poland would receive financial profit from this, which it could use, among other things, for the maintenance of American military bases on its territory, ”the analyst said.

And so that the voice of Poland sounded more convincing in the common European space, Mateusz Morawiecki organized this trip to his ideological allies - the Balts - in the hope that they would support the position of his country within the EU, analysts say.

“Poland is in a hurry to synchronize watches with its Baltic partners in order to push forward the anti-Russian agenda in the European Union.

If it were Warsaw's will, Russia would have been isolated at the international level long ago.

And Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia would support such a step.

Moreover, they all feel support from the United States, ”concluded Oleg Nemensky.
