His Highness, the ruler of Fujairah, praised the efforts made by the Etihad Rail Company to carry out the digging of railway tunnels without affecting the surrounding communities, while observing the highest standards of safety, security, sustainability and environmental protection.

For his part, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Rail, praised the efforts of the governments of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, and their unlimited support for the “Etihad Train” project, as it is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country, and an essential tributary of the national economy system. His Highness stressed that this achievement would not have been achieved without the cooperation and distinguished efforts made by the various stakeholders.

His Highness thanked all concerned authorities in this important stage of the project, whether local or federal, especially the Ministry of Interior, pointing to the support it provided to facilitate drilling operations, in addition to praising the cooperation of residents in the areas surrounding the “Etihad Train” track, which contributed In turn, to achieve this achievement in accordance with the established plan and approved timetable.

His Highness praised the efforts and professionalism of the work team, which overcame geographical challenges during digging tunnels, and achieved this achievement without any accidents, which is a qualitative addition to the exceptional record of the “Etihad Train” project in terms of safety, to write an important success story in the implementation of one of the largest Infrastructure projects in the country according to the highest international security and safety standards.

The nine tunnels were dug by recording one million man-hours, under the supervision and implementation of more than 600 experts, specialists and workers, in addition to the use of the latest tunnel-boring machines, and the excavation was carried out using the best modern technologies.

Etihad Rail was keen to take a series of precautionary and preventive measures, coordinate with environmental authorities, municipalities and traffic, and use innovative mechanisms and equipment to effectively overcome all challenges.

The Etihad Rail Company had announced, earlier, the completion of the construction works of Package A of the second phase of the Etihad Rail project, which extends over a distance of 139 kilometers and connects Ghuwaifat on the border with Saudi Arabia and the first phase of the project, which extends over A distance of 264 km from Habshan to Ruwais.

The development of the UAE national railway network project is proceeding according to the schedule and plans set for it, reflecting its importance in providing a modern and sustainable national railway network that enhances the leading regional position of the UAE.
