November 21, 2021There are 27 million Italians ready to shop on the occasion of the next Black Friday which will officially open on November 26, with an 8% growth in buyers compared to 2020. This is the forecast of Codacons in view of the week of discounts overtime in Italy. With promotions, the aim is to buy products for oneself or for the home and to anticipate Christmas gifts - explains the association - then there is a large slice of undecided consumers, who will evaluate purchases based on the offers and discounts practiced online. and in stores, and who will decide at the last minute.

At the top of the ranking of the most popular products during Black Friday once again electronics and hi-tech, a sector where about 60% of consumers intend to make at least one purchase, says Codacons. Interest is growing for the clothing, footwear and accessories sector, which will involve 50% of citizens who will take advantage of the discounts, and that of health and beauty products (20%).

The occasion of Black Friday will also be used to make purchases related to the upcoming holidays: 39% of Christmas gifts will be purchased during the week of discounts, estimates the Codacons. As for the purchasing channels, 61% of purchases will take place online, while 39% of shopping will be concentrated in physical stores.

On the other hand, according to the association, great uncertainty on the budget to be allocated to promotions: the unknowns on the economic and health situation of the country and the tensions on the front of prices and bills could lead to a reduction in the value of average receipts compared to last year.

The 4 Aduc tips to use Black Friday intelligently

"The prices of many products, especially electronics and clothing, are already attractive and, if you intend to shop, perhaps to donate at Christmas, it is worth dedicating a some time ". The Aduc (User and Consumer Rights Association) starts from here to provide practical advice on how to use Black Friday intelligently and focuses on remembering four important things:

- "The discounted prices show the original price which is not necessarily the real one before being discounted: 'sometimes' it is higher and, unless you have taken notes before the discount starts, there is no way to know. In part, you can remedy it by not stopping at the first offer of the first shop, but by comparing ".

- "Not finding what you are looking for does not mean losing the opportunity, so it is better not to force yourself to buy. Today is Black Friday, tomorrow is Cyber Monday (where you will also find sweets as well as smartphones), the day after tomorrow will be the Sales, the day after the specific promotion of that other shop ... continuous discount .... Discounts are no longer an occasion but an everyday life - says Aduc - just search ".

- Despite living in 2021, "buying online outside one's own territory, when there is a problem it is still a problem".

- "Our territory is Europe. If your purchase has a problem (because you have changed your mind - right of withdrawal - or the product is defective - two-year warranty from the trader), assert your rights in EU context is simple, but it can become impossible outside our continent. So be careful where the physical store you buy from is located, even if this store uses a platform based in Hong Kong or Padua to sell ".

To conclude a note of "color" on the language and culture of consumption: "If to the average Italian you say 'black friday', do the begging and stay at home for fear of being left with nothing. If to the average Italian you say 'blackfriday', he goes to shops, makes purchases and thanks to the installments he finds himself with nothing a little at a time ", concludes the note.
