The Turkish ship "Mavi Marmara" was offered for sale at an auction

Today, Saturday, Turkish official media reported that the Turkish Debt Collection Department offered for sale the Turkish cargo ship, which was a major cause of tensions between Turkey and Israel after the latter stormed it in 2010.

The official TRT Khabar channel stated that the cargo ship, known as "Mavi Marmara", will be auctioned at a price starting at 3.88 million liras (344,500 US dollars), adding that it is included in the confiscated property group.

The vessel was previously owned by the local shipping company, Mavi Dennis Tashimagili, and the company was not immediately available for comment.

TRT Haber said that the auction will be held in the Anatolian Court in Istanbul in the coming days, adding that the 93-meter-long transport ship is currently docked in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, following a pirate attack last August.

She added that the cost of transporting the ship to Turkey is estimated at 320,000 dollars.

The sale notice said the ship had "missiles and bullets" from the pirate attack but was in "reasonably good" condition and could continue operations.
