The Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Centers, Clinics and Public Health Sector at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, stated that the ministry succeeded in restoring hearing to 51 deaf people, through the Help Me Hear initiative, with a total value of seven million and 650 thousand dirhams.

Al Rand explained to "Emirates Today" that the ministry succeeded through its "Help Me Hear" initiative, which it launched to treat hearing-impaired children of low income, and it is one of the ministry's initiatives launched in the "Year of Giving", which is the first of its kind in the UAE. It was launched as an embodiment of the UAE’s humanitarian vision, and as a reflection of its global approach to giving and benevolence, with the aim of making hearing-impaired children of all nationalities happy, helping them save the costs of operations and hearing implants for free, and reintegrating them into society, bringing the number of cochlear implants and hearing restoration beneficiaries to 51 deaf people from Residents of the country of all nationalities.

Dr. Al Rand confirmed that the “Help Me Hear” initiative is one of the qualitative humanitarian initiatives launched by the Ministry in cooperation with its strategic partners, to help residents of the country with low incomes, whose families cannot afford the expenses of treating hearing loss, as the cost of the surgery is 150 thousand dirhams. Pointing out that the initiative is continuing, and is ready to help more children who are deaf, within the framework of the vision of the UAE and its approach based on noble human values ​​and providing a helping hand to those in need of all nationalities, to consolidate the role of the state as a regional and global capital for humanitarian work and human service, and to promote values ​​and culture goodness in our society.

Dr. Hussain Al Rand expressed his happiness with the success of cochlear implants, which change the course of life of the subjects, enabling them to hear, communicate and develop as their peers over time, thus effectively integrating into society as a result of the development of technologies.

He stated that all operations were performed in the ENT department at Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah, in cooperation with a group of surgeons and specialized doctors from within the country and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in cooperation with one of the international companies producing hearing implants, the Red Crescent and many charitable societies in the country.

He said that the cochlear implant operations also include the rehabilitation stage for children, pointing out that the strategy of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection is to achieve sustainable health for the UAE community according to the highest international standards, by providing comprehensive and distinctive services in a sustainable healthy environment, in accordance with locally effective policies, legislation, programs and partnerships. and internationally.
