Yesterday, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai opened a new bridge linking Al Manama and Al Maidan Streets, crossing the top of the Dubai-Al Ain Road, with the cancellation of the previous roundabout, and the modification of the ends of the ramps of the bridges on Al Maidan Street. The total lengths of the bridges are 328 meters, with a capacity of four lanes in each direction. The bridge slopes are 400 meters long, and the bridge's carrying capacity is estimated at 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

The Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Muhammad Al Tayer, said: “The new bridge linking the intersection of Manama Street with Al Maidan Street is part of the Dubai-Al Ain Road Development Project, which is currently being implemented by the authority, and includes the development of six major intersections, and the widening of the road from Three to six lanes in each direction, with a length of 17 kilometers, starting from the intersection of Dubai - Al Ain Road with Emirates Road, to the intersection of Bu Kadra with Ras Al Khor Street.

He added: “The project included re-planning the traffic lanes at the intersection of Al Manama Street with the Dubai-Al Ain Road, and the construction of a bridge consisting of four lanes in each direction, to connect Al Maidan Street and Al Manama Street, in order to serve the development projects, noting that the intersection contributes to improving the level of safety.” traffic, and streamline traffic at the intersection during peak hours.

He explained that the authority has completed 85% of the total project to develop the Dubai - Al Ain road, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects for road networks currently being implemented by the authority, and the number of beneficiaries is estimated at 1.5 million people. Strengthening the connection axes with Ras Al Khor Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Emirates Street, in addition to serving the existing and future development projects on both sides of the Dubai - Al Ain Road, as well as doubling the road capacity from 6000 vehicles per hour in Each direction, to 12,000 vehicles per hour in each direction, as well as reducing the journey time on the Dubai-Al-Ain road, which extends from Bukadra intersection to its intersection with Emirates Road, from 16 minutes to 8 minutes, and solving the problem of congestion, which was two kilometers long.

The scope of work of the second phase of the Dubai-Al-Ain road development project includes the expansion of the main road from three lanes to six lanes in each direction, in addition to the construction of new bridge intersections, and service roads that ensure safe entry and exit from residential and service areas on both sides of the road, and among these intersections Nad Al Sheba intersection, in addition to the intersection of Al Maidan Street with Dubai - Al Ain Road and its connection with Al Manama Street, a bridge consisting of four lanes in each direction was constructed, to connect Al Maidan Street and Manama Street, as well as the development of the existing bridge on Al Maidan and Dubai - Al Ain Streets to serve development projects affiliated with the field.

It is worth noting that the authority has recently opened a main bridge at the intersection of Nad Al Sheba Street with Dubai - Al Ain Road, with a length of 170 meters and a capacity of two lanes in each direction, and serving traffic from Dubai - Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba, Meydan, and development projects In the region, and vice versa, as it completed in an earlier stage the completion of the bridge links at the intersection of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with Dubai - Al Ain Street in all directions, and opened it to traffic completely.

Work is currently underway to develop the main bridge at the same intersection, to include detours to all other directions, in addition to completing the intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, where the process of linking the current Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and its extension, which opened in 2018, will be completed. By constructing a bridge over the Dubai-Al-Ain road consisting of four lanes in each direction, with the possibility of expanding it in the future to five lanes, and developing the existing bridge link to serve the traffic coming from the Dubailand residential complex heading west to the Dubai-Al-Ain road towards Dubai, And the establishment of a new bridge to serve the traffic coming from Dubai heading north to the Academic City and Dubai Silicon Oasis, with the construction of service roads on both sides of the street, and the establishment of detour links to serve the rest of the movements and development projects, as the works are expected to be completed during the second quarter of next year.

The project includes developing the intersection of Al Maidan Street with Dubai - Al Ain Road, and linking it with Al Manama Street, where a bridge will be constructed consisting of four lanes in each direction to link Al Maidan Street and Manama Street, as well as developing the existing bridge on Al Maidan and Dubai - Al Ain streets to serve the development projects of Meydan. .
