2021 is the 8th anniversary of China's joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
On November 19th, General Secretary Xi Jinping attended the third “Belt and Road” construction forum in Beijing and delivered an important speech. This is the third working forum held after 2016 and 2018, with a long-term vision and direction.
More than 2,000 years ago, the industrious and brave people on the Eurasian continent explored many trade and cultural exchanges that connected the major civilizations of Asia, Europe, and Africa, which were later collectively referred to as the "Silk Road."
In the autumn of 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed to jointly build the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the 21st Century "Maritime Silk Road" during his visit to Kazakhstan and Indonesia.
"The initiative originated in China, but the opportunities and results belong to the world."
As the chief designer of this initiative, President Xi Jinping personally planned and deployed and promoted, charting the direction for the construction of the "Belt and Road" and demonstrating China's responsibility and world sentiments.
The "Belt and Road" adheres to the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and continues to deepen and take concrete steps towards high-quality development.
As of November 2021, my country has signed more than 200 cooperation documents for jointly building the "Belt and Road" with 140 countries and 32 international organizations; relevant cooperation concepts and propositions have been written into the United Nations, G20, APEC, and Shanghai Cooperation Organization The outcome documents of important international mechanisms.
As General Secretary Xi Jinping said, "the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" pursues development, advocates win-win results, and conveys hope."
