Pill not an alternative to the vaccine
The anti-Covid pill is not an alternative, so the president of the Higher Institute of Health: "These are two different and complementary logics, only through immunization do we know that we put a stop to the infection of the virus and do regress the epidemic "- adds Professor Brusaferro -" while the pill acts when the virus has entered the body and is reproducing ".
Not just the third dose
Brusaferro: "Perhaps the 3 doses may be the cycle that immunizes for a long time, or some reminders may be needed: the acquisition of scientific evidence on the coverage is in progress". The pandemic, according to the president, is a "double speed" film, after which prevention actions are important: masks in closed places and in case of crowding even outdoors, and social distancing, actions that combined with vaccination will allow to contain pandemic peaks. "Forecasts are difficult to make, but future scenarios depend on our behavior."
Vaccine Coverage: "95% for severe cases"
The coverage of the vaccine is between 90 and 95% in terms of the prevention of deaths, and the employment of intensive care units and hospitalizations, however, falls - says Brusaferro - to 60% compared to the infection.
"The match against the virus is still in progress and the 90th minute is quite far away."
