In line with the message of the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater in supporting creative talents in the emirate, and in cooperation between the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” and the Akkas Center for Visual Arts, the 2021 edition of the festival will witness an innovative art exhibition for theatrical photography, under the title “After theatrical work.” It accompanies the festival throughout its week, which started the day before yesterday and will continue until November 25.

In line with the sectoral priorities of the Dubai Culture roadmap, which is to empower local talents from Emiratis and residents alike, and make culture and art accessible to everyone and everywhere, Dubai Culture invited the Akkas Center for Visual Arts, represented by three young local artists. Innovators in the field of photography, attend and photograph evaluation performances, and then present high-level artistic images that simulate various interactions on stage, in an initiative that also aims to enrich the activities of this session of the festival, and highlight the efforts made by young artists on the stage.

Emirati artists Faisal Al Rayes and Muhammad Al Dhaheri, and Iranian artist Mahsa Namour, who resides in Dubai, participated in the photography and directing of the exhibition, which includes main images from the plays participating in the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater, and the images were collected and directed in an artistic way. To be shown during the festival period.

On the importance of this type of photography, the founder of Akkas Center, artist Jassim Al-Awadi, said: “Theatrical photography reflects and documents the aesthetics of theater art, forming a reference visual archive on theatrical works. This type of photography involves a mixture of kinetic and emotional harmony for the actors on stage It uses the exposure technique for a long time, which helps to record the movements in a character that shows the details of the motor activity on the stage.”

Considered an inspiring conceptual artist in the field of photography, Faisal Al Rayes was heavily influenced by the photographic artist, Vivian Mellor, best known for his candid black and white shots of realistic scenes from everyday life and landscapes.

For the artist, Mohamed Al Dhaheri, photography represents a way to express thoughts and feelings, and a way to find something interesting in an ordinary place.

While the artist, Mahsa Namour, has developed a sense of curiosity and passion for culture, lifestyle, art, celebrations and history, influenced by the huge diversity of nationalities living in the UAE.
