The trial of the resounding Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris is far from closed.

Two investigating judges on Friday ordered the referral to the assizes of twelve people involved in this case dating back to October 2, 2016. The individuals will be tried in particular for "theft with a weapon committed in an organized gang", "kidnapping and forcible confinement" or "association of malefactors ”criminal, in recidivism most often, according to a source close to the file.

On the night of October 2 to 3, 2016, the American star, then 36 years old, was held up by several men, some dressed as police officers, in a discreet luxury hotel residence in Paris, where she had come to attend Fashion Week.

Two thieves threatened her with a gun to her temple, then tied her up and gagged her.

Kim Kardashian tied in the bathroom

"He asked me with a strong French accent for my" ring ", she told the police immediately after the theft.

"They tied me up (…) then carried me to my bathroom", where the young woman had been locked up.

Three other men kept watch at the reception, a sixth being at the wheel of a vehicle to ensure the escape.

The robbers had taken several diamond and gold jewelry, including an 18.88-carat stone.

Total amount of damage: more than six million euros, according to the order of indictment.

"Only certain jewels, lost by the criminals in their flight, were found", note the judges.

Investigators believe that the rest was sold mainly in Belgium.

A gang of "old-fashioned" thugs

The group, described by the police as a gang of “old-fashioned” thugs, is suspected of having carried out the biggest robbery to the detriment of an individual in the last twenty years in France.

At the end of five years of investigation, the two investigating judges in charge of the case largely followed the requests for dismissal from the Paris prosecutor's office on Friday, taken in June 2020.

Ten suspected gang members are sent back to court for the robbery or kidnapping of Kim Kardashian, while an eleventh is dismissed only for another criminal project on which the judges suspected part of the gang of working after the one targeting Kim Kardashian.

A twelfth will appear for a related misdemeanor related to an offense against weapons laws.
