Nordpass, which develops a password manager for smartphones and computers, annually carries out the ranking of the most popular keys in the main world markets, also evaluating the risk of violation of each country.

Italy, like most of Europe, has a high risk index, with over four passwords stolen and disclosed online per capita. Among the least affected is Saudi Arabia, with 0.26 passwords hacked per person and China, with 0.19.

According to the research, among the most common passwords in Italy there are "123456", "123456789", 12345 "," 12345678 "and" qwerty ". Following in the ranking," juventus "," 000000 "," password "," andrea "and" napoli ".

Beyond national specificities, such as teams and personal names, there are some keys used globally, the ones that cybercriminals bet the most to hack into accounts. For example, India and Japan have in common "password", while the thread that unites Indonesia, Spain and Thailand is the sequence "12345".

Also widely used "qwerty" and its variants, including the local version "qwertz" in Germany.

"Passwords continue to weaken and people don't keep adequate attention on how to use them," explained Nordpass CEO Jonas Karklys.

"It is important to understand that keys are the gateway to our digital lives and as we spend more and more time online, it becomes extremely important to take care of everyone's cybersecurity."
