Taken to hospital, the baby died of his injuries.
His father, a 27-year-old man of Sudanese nationality, was indicted and imprisoned for “usual violence” and the murder of his child, the Le Mans prosecutor's office announced Thursday evening.
Tuesday, around 4:30 pm, the Le Mans police officers had been warned that “help was being provided to a 13-month-old child on the public highway,” the prosecution said in a statement.
“The first elements collected led to the placement in police custody of the father of the child.
The autopsy of the young victim revealed multiple injuries of traumatic origin ”, according to the same source.
At the end of the custody, the father of the child was indicted for intentional homicide on a minor of 15 years and usual violence on a minor.
He was remanded in custody and faces a life sentence.
