In times when the word rejection dominates the inbox, announcements for events are particularly noticeable.

The Musikmesse is to be held again after the pandemic-related suspension, with a few innovations.

That’s good news.

And the last week of April 2022 is a date that gives hope that the pandemic won't thwart planning again.

Especially since the fair is currently being hotly debated as to whether and under what conditions the events can take place in the first quarter of next year - one of them is the Frankfurt Fashion Week, which was only able to celebrate a digital premiere in the summer.

Frankfurt as a creative location

The announcement of the “restart” of the Musikmesse and the festival is a positive sign, especially because it was recently no longer certain whether people still believed in the music market at the fair. And because considerations of a connection with the book fair had crashed due to resistance from the book world. After more than a year and a half without regular trade fair business and corresponding financial losses for the trade fair company, one could have expected that an event that had recently had fewer and fewer visitors would have been made available. Especially since the company, which is owned by the city and the country, recently canceled the Luminale light spectacle planned for mid-March 2022, which usually accompanies the Light & Building trade fair, for cost reasons.

The fact that the Musikmesse is to take place underlines Frankfurt's claim to position itself more strongly as a creative location.

The big music event offers the battered music scene a little perspective and should also be a ray of hope for all hobby musicians.

Even if, given the current situation, some might perceive it as whistling in the forest, the announcement is a signal.

It sounds like hope and it deserves support from the industry.
