A jammer used by thieves

According to the agency, locating a jammer is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack. The device interfered with no less than 24 mobile antennas. The city's 3G, 4G, wifi and GPS networks have been disrupted. Investigators then hit the road. Thanks to the radiodetermination device attached to the roof of their vehicle, they manage to locate the neighborhood, then the building where the jammer is located before being joined by six police officers from the Intervention Research Brigade (BRI) who enter hooded. , equipped with assault rifles and with enough to blow up the apartment door.

Directional antenna in hand, the intervention team discovers a gray box in a drawer of the television cabinet.

Its owner, then absent, explained later: he wanted to prevent neighbors from connecting to his wifi box.

The explanation left investigators skeptical because according to the agency, these jammers are part of the panoply of thieves to neutralize alarms or unlock cars.

This type of device can also disrupt planes at an altitude of 2,000 meters.

Their use is also punishable by six months' imprisonment and a fine of € 30,000.
