A 25-year-old woman gave birth on the A57 motorway at Solliès-Pont (Var) this Tuesday morning.

She gave birth to a daughter weighing 4 kg.

Feeling the contractions approaching and the imminent birth, the father and the mother had taken their car to go to Toulon (Var), tells France Bleu Provence.

The newborn, however, pointed the tip of his nose faster than expected and caught everyone by surprise.

Supervision by phone

The couple could not reach the maternity ward of the Sainte-Musse hospital in Toulon and only had time to park their vehicle on the emergency lane of the motorway.

The firefighters were immediately alerted by the father.

The operator quickly realized that help was not going to be able to get to the scene on time.

He then gave the future parents the necessary instructions for childbirth by telephone.

The baby had already seen the light of day when rescuers finally arrived.

The child and his mother are in good health.

They were taken care of by the firefighters and taken to hospital.
