November 17, 2021 In a comeback, Casper Ruud beats Cameron Norrie 2-1, on his debut at the ATP Finals as a substitute for the injured Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Norwegian starts badly, losing the first set 1-6, then recovers and triumphs with the sets of 6-3, 6-4.

Ruud will have the opportunity to grab the semifinals in the last match of the group, scheduled for Friday against Andrei Rublev.

Perfect Djokovic, 2-0 also against Rublev

A real

showdown

for Novak Djokovic, who had no problem beating Andrej Rublev.

The Serbian wins 2-0, just as he did on his debut against Casper Ruud and in an hour and 9 minutes he trims a 6-3, 6-2 to the Russian.

In an unprecedented match, but without history, the Serbian immediately put the Russian in difficulty, managing to sign 12 aces. Novak Djokovic thanked the "great" public of Turin in his perfect Italian. The Serbian's secret? He said it himself: "It is the great daily sacrifice to be able to stay on top".

Given the retirement of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Djokovic is already sure of the first position in the Green Group, with 2 wins and zero defeats, and therefore of access to the semifinals where he will challenge the second qualifier of the Red Group on Saturday. With Medvedev already qualified for the semifinals, a final on Sunday between the top two players is possible.

Against Rublev, Djokovic controlled the game right from the start, giving the feeling of having a decent margin over his rival.

The Russian was faced with a very complicated mission and not just to challenge the best tennis player in the world.

As in the debut match in the tournament, Djokovic starts slow, makes some mistakes and gives up the service game at the opening.

Rublev follows him closely, doing everything wrong and returning the break.

The decisive break in the first set arrives in the eighth game, when Djokovic places the break that leads him to 5-3.

In the second set, the Serbian climbs to the chair and after having snatched the serve from Rublev twice more, he closes easily 6-2.
