“Sullivan held telephone conversations with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev.

They discussed several topics on the bilateral agenda, as well as regional and global issues of concern, ”the statement said.

The White House stressed that the talks were held "in a frank and constructive manner."

Earlier, the Russian Security Council noted that the parties agreed to work together to improve the atmosphere of relations between Moscow and Washington and increase confidence between the two countries.
