A Washington court has sentenced Jacob Chansley, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, to 41 months in prison for his role in the January 6 storming of the US Congress.

CNN said that this ruling is expected to become an example for other judges, given that Chansley is one of the first defendants to be sentenced among more than 660 cases related to the events of the storming of the Capitol (Congress building) to prevent its members from ratifying On the results of the presidential election in which Trump lost.

Last September, the prosecution requested that Jacob Chansley be sentenced to 51 months in prison, or more than 4 years.

Chansley, 34, is considered one of the symbols of that attack that caused chaos in the headquarters of Congress, as he participated in the events wearing a fur hat with two horns, while he was bare-chested, and his face was dyed in the colors of the American flag.

Chancesley, who was known as the "Shaman" of the right-wing Que Anon movement, entered the Senate chamber, sat in the chair of then-Vice President Mike Pence, and left a handwritten note saying, "It's a matter of time. Justice is coming."

The authorities arrested him a few days after the attack, and he has been in custody for 10 months. He went to trial in September on the basis of pleading guilty to charges of participating in the storming of Congress with hundreds of Trump supporters.
