The older woman wanted to be nice on her birthday.

That is why she wore her gold jewelery when she celebrated with her relatives at the nursing home in northwestern Skåne.

The next time the relatives visited the elderly woman, a few days later, the jewelry was gone without a trace.

The woman had fallen ill shortly after her birthday and had lost consciousness.

Subject was inserted.

And while the woman was unreachable, the jewelry had been stolen.

Shortly afterwards, the suspicions were directed at one of those who worked nights, a woman in her 50s, during the woman's last days in life.

Got a hit at the pawnshop

An inspection revealed that the same woman had pledged a number of jewelery - a necklace, a chain, a pendant and a ring - to a pawn shop in Helsingborg.

For this she had paid just over SEK 7,000.

Relatives stated that it was the same piece of jewelery that had disappeared from the elderly lady.

The woman has since been fired from her job and is now sentenced, against her refusal, to a suspended sentence and community service.
