Who has actually been responsible for the animals that have been neglected in Ljusdal and in Ånge municipality?

This was the question that revolved around the district court during the trial against the man and woman who are accused of having neglected 86 dogs and a hundred birds together, the majority of which were chickens, and subjected them to suffering.

According to the prosecutor, they should not have given the animals enough food, supervision and care.

Blame each other

The two accused have previously during the investigation blamed each other in the matter, and it continued even in the courtroom.

The prosecutor, on the other hand, believes that they have both been responsible for the animals.

Discovered after police operation in 2019

The animals' situation became known after the police raided two farms in Ånge and Ljusdal in September 2019.

At the farm in Ånge, the police first found the birds.

The accused duo then disappeared from the scene, each with a caravan loaded with dogs.

The police were told where they were and caught up with them on a forest road near Ljusdal.

One of the policemen on site gave the following description: “The caravans stank terribly, there was a lot of feces in the caravans.

Some dogs were in poor condition, most were unkempt and very dirty with large cakes of feces or dirt hanging in their fur. ”

The majority of the dogs also had severe eczema, long claws, irritated eyes and gingivitis.

Requests for a suspended sentence

Prosecutor Jenna Sourander is seeking a suspended sentence in combination with a fine.

The verdict will come on Tuesday, December 7.
