November 16, 2021 A movable, real estate and corporate assets of over 12 million euros confiscated from leading members of the Fasciani clan of Ostia, on the Roman coast. The Military of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Rome carried out the decree of the Court of Appeal which became definitive, effectively rejecting the appeals presented by the Court of Cassation.

The provision confirms the previous decisions taken by the specialized section of Prevention Measures of the Capitoline court, which, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Rome, had first ordered the seizure, in 2016, and then the first degree confiscation, in 2018, of the huge heritage attributable to the clan which has its business base on the Roman coast.

The investigations carried out by the Gico of the Economic-Financial Police Unit focused on the leaders of the clan, with precedents for extortion, usury, trafficking in and fictitious registration of assets. Furthermore, the checks on the various family members would have confirmed the results of the police operations for the purposes of patrimonial assault.

The system was based on a complex and articulated corporate network to avoid discovering the affairs managed by “complacent” and trusted people of the clan. The turnover included, among other things, a bathhouse and various companies that produced baked goods. But that was only the tip of the empire iceberg. And what struck out was the considerable income and modest incomes declared, in particular, by the brothers Carmine and Terenzio Fasciani and their families. 

At the end of the entire procedural process, on the basis of the legislation provided for by the "Anti-Mafia Code", the final apprehension of the State assets of the entire company complex of 7 companies and 1 individual firm, operating mostly in Ostia in the management of ovens, bars, restaurants and bathing establishments, 12 properties, including apartments and commercial premises in Ostia and Capistrello near L'Aquila, and a piece of land, as well as availability of bank and postal accounts.
