A 7-year-old child was mown down by a car on Monday in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise).

The accident happened in front of a primary school at around 1:45 p.m., as the young boy was crossing the road with his father.

The victim was taken care of by the firefighters then the doctors of Smur, before being evacuated in absolute emergency to the Robert-Debré hospital in Paris, reports

The little boy's vital prognosis would not be engaged, however.

In addition, many children witnessed the scene, two school buses being parked in front of the establishment at the time of the collision.

A psychological unit was therefore set up by the National Education at the request of the school director.

A police investigation was opened but the excessive speed of the driver could be involved, indicates the daily Ile-de-France.

After fleeing, the man behind the wheel finally went to the police station where he was taken into custody for manslaughter.
