A message on the political force's Facebook page says that on November 16, the President of Latvia received an appeal from the party urging him not to sign the amendments to the law “On meetings, processions and pickets,” recently adopted by the Seimas of the republic, which prohibit the use of St. George's ribbons.
The "Russian Union of Latvia" believes that these amendments may aggravate the tense situation in society and violate the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and pickets.
