Good evening,

It was once a good tradition that Christmas markets only open after the Sunday of the Dead, because Advent does not begin until the first Advent. The Sunday of the Dead is the next Sunday. In Offenbach, however, they didn't want to wait any longer and started this Monday. But well, the Christmas market there doesn't last until the day before Christmas Eve, as is usually the case, but until just before New Year's Eve. Why not until Easter, and then again right after the summer vacation? But we digress. Because whoever thinks of Christmas markets this year, thinks above all of how risky it is to visit one in view of the increasing incidence. In Offenbach, a mask requirement should help, which of course can only be enforced to a limited extent, because neither bratwurst nor mulled wine can be served with a mask. Although ... mulled wine ... filtered ... it would depend on a try.

Trial and error is the right keyword anyway when talking about Corona. The state government is currently trying not to be responsible. From the Ministry of Social Affairs on Monday, on questions about how to deal with the pandemic, the federal government was responsible for one level higher, and the municipalities were responsible for one level lower. Fine. Meanwhile, family doctors are being assaulted by those willing to vaccinate. There are those too, not just vaccinators who are always talked about so much. Those willing to vaccinate want the third vaccination, and of course it would be great if all the vaccination centers were still there. Historians who one day come to terms with the pandemic will have a lot to write about.

In any case, the incidence remains worryingly high, in Hesse it is 229, Offenbach shoots the bird at 312. Where did the first Christmas market open far and wide on Monday?

Oh, it doesn't matter.

And what's more, the new Asterix volume continues to be the best-selling book in the region +++ Mainova is keeping its electricity prices in Frankfurt stable in the new year as well +++ 30 percent fewer cars were sold in Hesse in October of this year than in October 2020.

I wish you a pleasant evening

Yours Manfred Köhler
