Last Sunday, the ore wagons derailed and it was a hard blow for LKAB, which loses SEK 14 million in revenue per day.

In addition, the mining company estimates that it will cost between SEK 20 and 60 million to repair the ore wagons.

"A happy surprise for LKAB"

The cleaning and repairs of the rails and embankment were expected to take place until midnight on Wednesday, but it went much faster than that.

It was already ready at 05.11 on Monday morning and at 05.51 the first ore train rolled out on the tracks.

- It was a happy surprise.

Wow, three days we did not have to stand still.

It is clear that it is positive.

The Swedish Transport Administration deserves a gold star for its work, says LKAB's press manager Anders Lindberg.

Trying to catch up

From a purely financial point of view, this means that the mining company did not miss out on SEK 42 million in revenue, but at the same time it is a total of eight days of stationary traffic or SEK 112 million in lost revenue.

- I do not know how much of what we can can catch up or who is responsible for the derailment and repairs of the ore wagons.

It is only when the dust has settled that we know it, says Anders Lindberg.

"We thank you for the gold star"

The Swedish Transport Administration's press communicator Peter Jonsson in Luleå is pleased with LKAB's positive statements.

- It's fun that Anders Lindberg wants to give us a gold star.

We thank you for that.

It is not always the Swedish Transport Administration that is praised, he says and continues:

- The decisive factor in making it go faster than expected was that we received permission to build a temporary road to the accident site.

Now the dump trucks could drive straight into the derailment area and we earned many hours on that, says Peter Jonsson.
