Since the first day of the launch of the Expo 2020 Dubai, Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi, who holds the position of director of the women’s prison in the penal and correctional institutions in Dubai, did not hesitate to be one of the volunteers in the international event, out of her keenness to serve her country with all her capabilities, and her love And her tireless passion for serving and helping people.

At noon, Colonel Al Zaabi finishes her work in the penal and correctional institutions, and sets off for Expo 2020 Dubai, carrying in one hand the schedule of daily tasks assigned to her as a volunteer, and in the other hand the volunteers' uniform, and then proceeding with her duties until the evening hours.


Colonel Al Zaabi is not satisfied with her duties as a volunteer only, but feels that her duty is deeper than that. She encourages her "volunteers, especially the younger generation of them," to set an example in serving the nation, and to contribute with all earnestness and sincerity to highlighting the lofty values ​​of Emirati society that were established by the founding leaders since The establishment of the union in 1971.


On the reason for her volunteering at Expo 2020 Dubai, Colonel Al Zaabi says: “I volunteered at the Expo for two main goals. And my passion for volunteering is because it is an open door to human giving.”

Colonel Al-Zaabi stresses that volunteering does not degrade a person's societal value, but rather is considered a personal gain, and a pleasure that has no limits, because of the giving and assistance to people, in addition to being an opportunity to meet and meet visitors of all races, cultural, intellectual, social and religious backgrounds.


She adds: "Thanks to God and the vision of our wise leadership, the UAE has become a global destination with more than 200 nationalities, and the Expo event adds to citizens, residents and visitors an exceptional opportunity to learn about these diverse cultures that reinforce the most important principles of coexistence, tolerance and acceptance of others."

Regarding her duties as a volunteer, Colonel Al-Zaabi says: "After receiving my duties, I go to any event or pavilion to volunteer in it, based on the assignment and tasks that fall upon me, like any volunteer, and during the last period I volunteered in 6 various pavilions, and I was very happy with that. By getting to know the culture of countries, which enriched my personal information and knowledge.

Colonel Al Zaabi confirms that some of those who heard about her volunteering at Expo 2020 Dubai were amazed and surprised by her keenness to be present in the field despite her military rank and position, but they were encouraging her, while some reacted negatively due to their lack of awareness of the impact of volunteering and giving on one's happiness. Urging them to engage in volunteering.

Colonel Al Zaabi expressed her overwhelming happiness as she witnessed the keenness of a large number of citizens, especially young people, to volunteer at Expo 2020 Dubai, and their daily attendance to serve and delight people, stressing that they are a source of pride for their country, leaders and families.


Colonel Al Zaabi concluded: "The most beautiful thing about the volunteers at Expo 2020 Dubai is that they came from various government and private institutions and departments, and all of them spoke one language, the "language of Expo" that brought together all peoples in the Emirate of Happiness Dubai."
