Burkina Faso: at least 20 dead in an attack in Soum

An attack killed at least 20 people in Inata in northern Burkina Faso.

In Burkina Faso, 20 people killed including 19 gendarmes and a civilian, it is the still provisional toll of one in the province of Soum this Sunday.

Armed men stormed the gendarmerie detachment early this Sunday.

It is one of the deadliest attacks suffered by the defense and security forces since the attacks began in the country.

 " declared Ousséni Tamboura, the government spokesperson, announcing the news of the attack.

It took place at the old Inata mine.

Armed men who came on motorcycles and pickup vehicles, according to security sources, attacked the gendarmerie detachment around 5 a.m.

And there was fighting.

We suffered a cowardly and barbaric attack, but the men bravely resisted the enemy,

 " maintains Maxime Koné, the Minister of Security.

The Air Force was involved in the reconquest of the attacked site.

A security source said that the men who carried out the attack were there from 3 a.m. and remained there until 6 a.m.

Research is underway to find possible survivors, because several gendarmes are missing.

The area where the attack took place is quite large according to the authorities.

 ”the government spokesperson said indignantly.

Friday, November 12, seven police officers had already died in an attack in the same region.
