Boris Johnson: "I saw the Queen .. and she is in very good health"

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Queen Elizabeth was "in very good health" when he met her last week, after the 95-year-old missed Sunday's Memorial Day celebration with a sprained back.

"I know everyone wants to extend their best wishes to Her Majesty the Queen, and I just wanted to reassure everyone by saying that I saw the Queen at a meeting last week, on Wednesday in Windsor, and she was very well," Johnson told a news conference.

And on Sunday, Buckingham Palace said Britain's Queen Elizabeth would not attend the Memorial Day ceremony because of a sprained back.

"Her Majesty is disappointed that she will miss" the ceremony, the palace said in a statement.

A source in the palace said that the Queen's back sprain was not related to the unspecified fatigue, which caused her to be hospitalized and then her doctor advised her to rest.

The source added that this is an incredibly unfortunate coincidence.

The Queen, the world's oldest and most sitting monarch, has missed events such as the COP26 climate change conference and a memorial festival for war dead on Saturday night since she was admitted to hospital for "initial checks".

The source said that the Queen hopes to continue the schedule of her light official engagements scheduled for the next week.
