In August 2008, three men killed a 31-year-old man by aggravated and prolonged violence in an apartment in Umeå.

Then they drove the body to a gravel pit at Fällforsån, where it tried to burn it.

"Be young and naive"

The three men were sentenced to life in prison for murder and breach of the peace.

The youngest of them, a now 34-year-old man, has now for the second time applied to have his sentence fixed.

In his interrogation with Örebro District Court, which processed the application, the man says that today he is ashamed of his crime and that at the time of the crime he was a young and naive person who ended up in the situation due to peer pressure and poor living.

The district court considers that there is a low risk that the man will return to serious crime and therefore converts the life sentence to a prison sentence of 24 years.

Since prisoners serve two thirds of their sentence, this means that the man will be released on parole in 2024.
