General Director of JSC Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev told reporters about the company's intention to bring almost fifty new weapons to the global market in the near future.

As the top manager specified, Moscow's partners in the area of military-technical cooperation will have the opportunity to purchase over 20 samples of aircraft and 10 air defense systems.

“In the next 5-7 years, Rosoboronexport plans to bring to the market almost 50 new models of all types of armed forces and combat arms,” Mikheev said on the sidelines of the 17th Dubai Airshow 2021 international aerospace exhibition in the UAE.

As of November of this year, the order book for Russian air defense systems is $ 14 billion, and the total volume of products to be supplied by Moscow through military-technical cooperation is estimated at $ 52 billion.

"Out of competition"

Rosoboronexport cooperates with more than 700 enterprises and organizations of the military-industrial complex (MIC) of the Russian Federation.

According to the company's website, "this allows us to offer foreign customers comprehensive programs to strengthen defense and national security."

Rosoboronexport also notes its readiness to "implement the most technically complex and daring projects anywhere in the world."

“At the same time, Russia, supplying final samples of military equipment for export, is actually sharing technologies with partners for organizing their production, maintenance and repair.

This approach is very much appreciated in the world, ”says the materials of Rosoboronexport.

At the end of August, the company announced that in the coming years, foreign customers will be supplied with products "for all types of armed forces", including electronic warfare (EW) and air defense systems.

Among them are the modernized Pantsir-S1M anti-aircraft missile and cannon system, the Palma shipborne air defense system, the Krasukha and Repellent-Patrol systems for jamming enemy electronic equipment.

Also, according to Rosoboronexport, domestic anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) are in demand on the international market: S-400 Triumph, S-300VM (Antey-2500), S-300 Favorit, Buk-M2E , family "Tor-M2", "Sosna", "Gibka-S", "Pechora-2M", portable air defense systems "Igla-S" and "Verba".

“A number of air defense and electronic warfare systems offered by Russia are virtually unrivaled.

These are completely unique types of products in terms of quality and price, "said Alexei Podberezkin, director of the Center for Military-Political Research at MGIMO, in a commentary on RT.

Experts predict that the volume of foreign contracts for Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems will only increase.

They explain this trend, first of all, by the rapid development and spread of unmanned aircraft.

“Modernization of domestic short-range air defense systems, Russian radar stations and other reconnaissance means takes into account the need to detect UAVs, including small ones.

At the same time, the priority in eliminating threats posed by drones is given to electronic warfare systems, "Dmitry Kornev, founder of the Military Russia portal, said in an interview with RT.

As the expert explained, the domestic industry is intensively working to reduce the cost of countermeasures for UAVs.

For example, relatively inexpensive anti-aircraft missiles, devoid of homing heads, are being created for the Pantsir family.

In addition, in Russian air defense systems, the height, range and speed of fixing air objects are increasing, says Kornev.

Another promising direction for the development of Russian arms exports is unmanned aircraft itself.

In October, in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Shugaev, said that in the medium term, Moscow is able to occupy at least 10% of the global UAV market.

“The time is not far off when we will definitely push out the main competitors in this area, namely: the USA, Israel, Turkey.

Why?

Because our designers do not sit still at our enterprises, the idea works, and we have something to offer in the near future, ”said Shugaev.

Today Russia is promoting the Orion-E heavy reconnaissance and strike drone for export.

This device is the first domestic drone belonging to the elite MALE (Medium-altitude long-endurance) class.

Orion is capable of performing tasks at any time of the day.

Thanks to the aerodynamic design of the airframe, it can stay in the air for more than a day.

In addition, this UAV is distinguished by the so-called open architecture, which allows the installation of payloads and aircraft weapons, depending on the wishes of the operator.

"Modern requirements"

Also, Russia plans to expand the range of exported weapons through the supply or joint production of the Checkmate (Su-75) single-engine light tactical aircraft (LTS).

On the international market, this aircraft should fill the empty niche of the inexpensive fifth generation fighter.

Rostec expects to supply the fighter for $ 30-35 million. According to experts, this is a very modest price for a modern multifunctional aircraft.

At the same time, Checkmate has a high combat potential.

It is known that the vehicle will be capable of delivering strikes using both a traditional missile and bomb arsenal and using drones.

The combat radius of the vehicle will be 1.5 thousand km, the mass of weapons will be 7400 kg, and the speed will be Mach 1.8.

The Su-75 airborne radar will be equipped with an active phased antenna array AFAR.

The radar will be able to attack up to six air targets and track up to 30. In the global market, Checkmate should become an alternative to the American fifth-generation aircraft F-35 and the Chinese fighter J-31.

It is planned that the Su-75 will be produced in traditional and unmanned versions.

“I think that the Checkmate project is yet another proof that Russian aircraft will continue to compete adequately with foreign aircraft, including American ones.

At the same time, it is much more affordable, ”explained Alexey Podberezkin.

Also, in the coming years, Russia will offer foreign partners a two-seat modification of the fifth generation Su-57 fighter.

This vehicle can be used as a command post for controlling external weapons, including UAVs.

The Sukhoi company considers super-maneuverability, short take-off and landing, low visibility in radar and infrared ranges, omnidirectional and multichannel use of weapons, high noise immunity of onboard equipment to the key advantages of its brainchild.

In the class of ground weapons at international exhibitions, Russia often demonstrates armored vehicles on the Armata tracked platform.

The greatest attention of the foreign public is attracted by the T-14, the only third-generation tank in the world.

This machine is designed for operations in the so-called network-centric wars, where different types of military equipment operate in a single tactical link.

The T-14 is capable of not only firing, but also performing the functions of a target designator, spotter and reconnaissance officer.

At the beginning of 2021, Rosoboronexport authorized the sale of the tank abroad.

Of wheeled armored vehicles, Moscow is promoting a new generation of armored personnel carriers "Boomerang" on the global market.

The vehicle can transport up to 11 personnel.

The armored personnel carrier will be produced in two versions: an armored personnel carrier (K-16) and an infantry fighting vehicle (K-17), armed with a 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon and a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun.

"When developing the machine, the modern requirements of the world market were taken into account and a new layout scheme was adopted: the control compartment is in front of the left, the engine compartment is in the front right, the fighting compartment is in the middle, and the troop compartment is in the rear of the vehicle," the materials read. Dmitry Kornev believes that the world market will continue to have a steadily high demand for land samples of Russian armored vehicles.

“Soon we can expect that new wheeled vehicles and vehicles on the Armata platform will have their first customers.

Of course, it is still difficult to estimate the volume of these purchases.

Nevertheless, we can definitely say that there will still be a demand for modernized T-90s, infantry fighting vehicles, various types of armored vehicles, "says Kornev.

Alexey Podberezkin adheres to a similar point of view.

The expert also believes that in the near future a large number of domestic artillery systems can be exported, including updated multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

“We see that our country continues to expand the list of truly unique and competitive products, mass purchases from Saudi Arabia (the largest importer of weapons. -

) and even NATO member countries like Turkey are being discussed,” Podberezkin summed up.
