Abdel-Jalil Al-Basha, the assistant head of the National Umma Party and a leader in the Forces of Freedom and Change - the Central Council, said that the Sudanese forces are "determined to confront the coup until its overthrow" and to return to what was before last October 25.

Al-Basha added in an interview with (evening) on ​​Al-Jazeera Mubasher that the situation now requires "forming a broad, strong and united front to restore the democratic path and the gains of the revolution."

He stated that "there is no talk in light of the suspension of the constitutional document, arrests, and the imposition of a state of emergency."

Al-Basha reiterated the Sudanese forces' condemnation of all "murder crimes committed against peaceful demonstrators", blaming the commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

Al-Basha demanded that those responsible for the murders be held accountable and brought to trial.

He stressed that "there will be no retreat until all the gains of the Sudanese revolution are returned."

Al-Basha said, "What is happening is a natural result of the heavy legacy that we inherited from the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir."

He added that if "there was a mistake made by the forces of freedom and change, it was the understanding with al-Bashir's security committee."

Al-Basha demanded that everyone define their positions, either “to be with the revolution and civil democratic transformation” or to be “with the authoritarian, dictatorial approach.”

In turn, Muhannad Mustafa Al-Nur, a spokesman for the Sudanese Professionals Association, said that the Sudanese people have made a great change during the past period, and what they have done should not be underestimated.

He added that "the vast majority of the Sudanese people want to overthrow the coup" and return to the democratic path.

Muhannad expressed his astonishment at the insistence of political forces to return to partnership with the army, by sticking to a return to the constitutional document.

With regard to the deaths during the demonstrations, on Saturday, he said that "the soldiers are carrying out the instructions, and it is known who has the weapon now."

Muhannad stressed that "the masses of the people who left and will continue to leave are determined to achieve their goal."

Yesterday, Saturday, the Ministry of Health of the dissolved Sudanese government announced that 5 people were killed during the demonstrations rejecting the decisions of the Sudanese army chief, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

Last Thursday evening, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan appointed a new Sovereignty Council, from which he excluded representatives of the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change.

On October 25, Al-Burhan announced the dissolution of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the transitional government, accompanied by the arrest of ministers and officials, including Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, who was placed under house arrest.
